Busy Late Summertime

As the summer comes to a close, the list of things to do is long. We are trying to fit the last hay cutting of the season in between rain showers. After the hay is off the field we will be planting cool-season forage for pasture and spring haylage.

New batches of chickens are still arriving every other week, which also means there is a trip to the processor every other week.

We have begun to weigh the turkeys each week. We do this so we can track the growth and ensure that we harvest at the correct weight.

We are prepping the ground for collards, kale, carrots, and garlic.

Soon enough, the air will be crisp. Turkeys will be gone, Broiler season will be over. Vegetables will be slowed to a trickle. So, I guess enjoy it while it's here, and enjoy the process right? That's what I have to remind myself of quite a bit this time of year.
