The first batch of chickens went out to pasture this weekend. Turkeys are still in the brooder. The second batch of chickens will hatch this week. We've been talking a lot about chickens in this space for the last few weeks. That's because they require a majority of our attention this time of year. However, other things are still happening on the farm. The Dairy cows are milking pretty well and are enjoying the mild weather. The Beef cattle are enjoying the early spring grass. We can always tell when the grass starts shooting up, as the cattle quickly stop eating as much hay. As soon as the weather drys out a little, field chores will rise to the top of the priority list. Internally I can feel the pressure rising a bit with the anticipation of another long growing season just around the corner. With the world seemingly a little more chaotic every year, it's nice to be able to get lost in the busy and familiar work ahead.
