Keeping Strawberries Alive/Thriving

As you can see in this picture, we kept our strawberries warm by wrapping each one in a blanket and building them a tiny campfire. It seems to be working. Haha, obviously I'm kidding, but isn't ChatGPT Interesting? In reality, we will need to protect the plants from freezing, but I am embarrassed to say that I was unprepared for this cold snap. There is a product called "floating row cover," which is a light fabric that can lie right on top of the plants. This product will help protect the plants from a hard freeze. I had plans to purchase it and knew I would need it eventually. However, this cold snap caught me a little off guard. I searched late last week for somewhere in the southeast that I could drive to and get this product, but there was none available that I could find. I did get it ordered, but with a 1-week lag time. I will be ready for the next freeze. However, right now the plants are cold. I am praying that they made it through last night with minimal damage. I love to communicate with you about our successes and when everything on the farm is great and beautiful. But we all know that nobody is perfect. That's why I don't mind sharing when I slip and do something silly. Should I have ordered the row cover earlier, of course. All diversified farms are a complex dance of human input and biological cycles. We do the absolute best we can, but if you only saw success and perfection, you would be right to be skeptical. I walked the field yesterday before dark and prayed for protection over those plants. I went to bed last night knowing that we would see 15 degree temps. I took a little comfort knowing that strawberries were grown before "floating row cover" existed. I found infinitely more comfort knowing that all provision and bounty comes from God. If we praise Him, the bible tells us in Psalm 67:6 "Then shall the earth yield her increase; And God, even our own God, shall bless us."
