Normally I would say "I hope yall had a very merry Christmas." I still hope that for all of you. Today it seems more appropriate to say "I hope yall stayed warm over Christmas." It has been brutally cold on the farm, and many challenges come with those temperatures. The automatic chicken waterers were turned off on Thursday, and haven't been on since. We have been manually delivering water to pans throughout the chicken houses. It's not ideal, but the birds haven't seemed to mind. The cows handle the cold pretty well, but milking at 4 a.m. takes another level of motivation. But hey, it'll be above freezing today for the first time in a while. The light at the end of the tunnel comes in the form of a 60-degree Thursday. It'll be a welcome change. I'm ready to finish the year out strong.
