It has taken a lot of irrigation water, but fall crops are coming on strong. We work with some of the best organic vegetable farmers in our region, and we grow some vegetables here at Carlton Farms. We have historically focused mainly on the livestock, and that will not change. We do believe, however, that being more diversified is inherently more sustainable. A truly diversified farm with livestock and vegetable production can have a nutrient cycle that is a closed-loop. That is our goal. We are big believers in constant improvement. Small steps today that make you better than you were yesterday is the only way to become great at anything.
Right now planted in our vegetable fields are Collards, Radishes, Garlic, Swiss Chard, & Kale.
