In my spare time (give me just a minute while I laugh out loud at myself) I am restoring a 1976 International Scout. It's a slow go because I only dedicate an hour here and an hour there to it, but I enjoy it. I love the look of these old trucks that were basically built by a tractor company, International Harvester. They made several special editions, but my favorite is the patriot (see photo). It was a super-patriotic vehicle only produced in our country's bicentennial year, 1976. An even more limited version called the "Spirit" was built in honor of the USA Olympic Ski team. I'd love to drive this vehicle around on July 4th. Today, however, I'll be driving a van. I'm leaving momentarily to pick up veggies from my Mennonite friends in Delano, and I'll stop by Sweet Velo Blue for blueberries on the way back. Chicken and seafood were restocked over the weekend in the freezer with beef and pork. Eggs, Cheese, and Butter are in the cooler ready to be packed, and milk is being produced daily. It's such a privilege to be able to grow and source such a varied bounty of food for you all. In addition to what we produce, we have been able to find some great local food from a host of fantastic local people. That's how I choose to use my freedom, and I wouldn't change a thing.
