How to Eat an elephant?

For years now our most busy weeks of the year are right before Thanksgiving. It makes sense right? We raise a lot of turkeys, and everybody wants their turkey at the same time. In addition to the turkey logistics, our customers want a lot of other yummy things right before Thanksgiving. For most of us, Thanksgiving is a time to gather with the ones we love around a special meal. We understand that we have become a big part of that meal for many of yall. WE are Thankful that so many of you rely on us to produce and deliver key components of that meal. It's humbling actually. This year we had lots of turkeys to deliver, Lots of other farm stuff that needed to be done, and we ended up one person short for a couple of weeks. The mountain of work that stood in front of us a couple of weeks ago seemed insurmountable. Thankfully there are little sayings that can offer help in these situations. Last week I chose one of my favorites. How were we gonna get all this work done? I told the team; We'll do it just like you eat an elephant. You do know how to do that right? One. Bite. At. A. Time. All we could do is the first order that was in front of us. Then we could move to the next. Then the next... for long hours. The team has been fantastic, as usual. We are only a little over half finished with this elephant, and this week will be another series of bite after bite after bite. I am confident we will be successful, and it is all because the entire team knows how to eat an elephant. So, in the spirit of the upcoming holiday, I want to give early thanks to the whole team. In the warehouse: Sharon and Anthony, On the road: Chan and Joshua, On the phones and computer: Debbie, On the farm: Ricky, Nichole, Steve, Lance, Bobby, Gayla, Chad, Brad, & Brooke. It is a team effort, and we couldn't be more Thankful to be your farmer.
