Fall Seeding, part 1

It's time to get cool season annual grasses planted, so that's what I did all weekend. Even during the Georgia game (now that's dedication to the craft). This year we are planting Triticale and Ryegrass combination. Additionally, we are adding some crimson clover. The clover is a legume, which will increase the protein level and build soil nitrogen. These grasses will sprout within the next couple weeks and begin to set a root system, but will not be available to graze until early spring. Properly produced grass fed beef requires keen attention to detail, not only to the cow but maybe more importantly to the grass.
