Martin Luther King Day

Very few, if any, of us pursue endeavors with the social magnitude of those pursued by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  So it is unfair for any of us to compare our life's work to the work he so courageously undertook, although we should all seek to fulfill our personal mission with the class and dignity that he personified. The Civil Rights movement is one that was long overdue. Dr.King's passionate, peaceful, and eloquent pursuit of civil rights is something for which we all, as a country, owe him a great debt of gratitude.
Even though I feel like our mission here at Carlton Farms is heartfelt and noble, it was hard to find a relatable MLK quote simply because his vision for social equality was so honorable. And then i found this one:
"All of life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied to a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly ."
Martin Luther King Jr.
After reading this quote, I said "that's it, that's why we farm the way we do."  We do not believe in the merits of reductionist science. We believe in the whole. We believe that the way we treat the land and the animals is important because we are all connected. Decisions we make here do not end here, ultimately they end on your family's dinner table or in the lunchbox of your children. We recognize that mutuality, and we want to make our little impact a clean and positive one.
