Turkey Time
Turkeys are now out on pasture. This is the earliest we have ever gotten turkeys out of the brooder, but the conditions and weather were right. At just 2.5 weeks old, these poults have been doing great on pasture. They are still protected by our mobile pasture pens, but they have lots of space, grass, and bugs to enjoy. We move these structures every day so that a new plot of forage and bugs is always available to them. Eventually, they will outgrow these shelters, at which time we will move them to an open pasture that has special fencing to protect them from predators. For now, they are as content as can be, scratching and pecking through their fresh allotment of pasture each day.
