It Won't Be Long Now - part 2

Saturday, I picked and ate a handful. That evening, there were a few more ripe. We are both excited and nervous about this new venture. The checklist of things I need to do before we open for you-pick seems never-ending, but we are working diligently to be ready. I'm guessing we are about 2 weeks out from opening, but this is new to me. The few ripe berries we have picked are the Chandler variety. We only had 2,000 of them, compared to the 13,000 Ruby June variety that we planted. The Chandlers are ripening earlier, so I'll take note of that and use that information when we prepare for next year. The Ruby June should be a great variety for our area, but they seem to set fruit just a tad later. I look forward to eating both, and I look forward to welcoming you to share in this bounty.
