Project Selection

I'm not always the best at picking the correct project to work on. Usually, I am putting out the hottest fire. When I do get to choose what project to work on, there are just so many that the decision is overwhelming. I just have so much that I want to do, and time is finite. Some projects seem to stay low on the priority list for a long time, and others percolate up to the top over time. This weeks project has taken a while to make its way to the top, but it finally got there. I've been wanting to reroute some waterlines for quite a while. I needed to be able to shut off water to sections of the farm occasionally while leaving water available to other sections. I also wanted to route the County water supply and the well water supply into the same area so we could choose to use either in case we need a back-up at some point. The project went well, but as you know it was near 90 last week and I chose to dig ditches... that's where my decision-making gets questionable. There are still more improvements I want to make, but all the ditch work and new pipe work is complete. That gives me a nice sense of accomplishment for a to-do item that has been on the list for quite some time. Sometimes you just have to grab the shovel, no matter how hot it is.
