I had a conversation with my friend Corey at 411 Farms this weekend. I'm sure many of yall have enjoyed his carrots, spinach, and other various delicious vegetables he grows on his farm just north of us in White, GA. Initially our conversation revolved around our kids, sports, etc. Yes, we do have conversations that extend beyond farming...sometimes. Eventually, the conversation did get around to what was happening on the farm. I asked if he was growing anything at the moment. His response reflects how most farmers feel in the dead of winter. He said, "If keeping it alive counts for growing, then yeah". Sometimes During the roughest parts of winter, that seems like all we can do. Just keep it all alive and look forward to better weather that's just around the corner. I'm beginning to think optimism may be our (farmers) superpower. |
